A five minute walk from the heart of Harlech, we stay in a classic Victorian town house B&B, with lovely views over the castle and bay beyond. Newly refurbished, the comfortable en suite rooms are stylishly furnished. Your hosts are keen gardeners and botanists. Well behaved dogs are welcome in one of their rooms. Also available is a pretty stone cottage on a quiet lane in the centre of Harlech, comfortable and well equipped, with two bedrooms (1 x double bed, 1 x bunk-beds), shower-room, living room and kitchen. Although the cottage is self-catering, breakfast supplies are included if you choose an Original Escape.
Harlech will be your base if you choose a Car-Free Escape, and is also suitable for anyone preferring the amenities of the town within walking distance: shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs, the railway station, golf course, beach, and of course Harlech Castle!
Your farmhouse B&B nestles in a green bowl, looking seawards into the sunset. A little stream flows through the carefully tended garden where Gwion defends his vegetables and Louise her roses from the assaults of athletic sheep that occasionally leap the cattle grid. There are elegant en-suite bedrooms in the main building and cosy self-contained studios converted from former stables alongside the house. In the latter you’ll find a small fridge and micro-wave/oven/grill, which makes it possible to prepare a light evening meal ‘at home’ in front of the fire. You may also find your bed on a mezzanine, accessed by steps/ladders of varying steepness! There are televisions (helpful for brushing up on one’s Welsh) and tea and coffee making facilities in all the rooms. In the main house, next to the breakfast room with its French windows, is a comfortable sitting room, complete with inglenook fireplace. All the actual farming takes place a little way up the hill, and is still presided over by Gwion’s father.
